"In Your Presence"
and
"Under Your Wings"

As I was attending worship service the first Sunday morning in November 2007, the Lord spoke a word to me during Praise and Worship. He said to me "Come closer." I felt the presence of the Lord so strong that those two words lingered within me throughout the day. I realized that it was a command to draw nearer to God, in prayer, in fellowship, in reading the word and in daily meditation. Later on that week, I penned the poem below: In Your Presence.
"In Your Presence"
In your presence
there is fullness of joy,
In your presence
is the peace I have longed for.
In your presence
still confronted with many tests,
In your presence
in the midst of trials is where I find rest.
In your presence
you speak to me through your word,
In your presence
is where revelations unfold and are heard.
In your presence
I feel you close to me,
In your presence
Close to you is where I want to be.
A few days later, my oldest brother Fred went home to be with the Lord. It was the presence of God that sustained me through that time and even now. The Lord reminded me of the 91st Psalm in which I would read to Fred at night before we would have prayer. I was drawn to the words in verse 4: He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. From the words of that verse, the following words were impressed upon my heart as a declaration of God's protection.
"Under Your Wings"
I am shielded,
under your wings
I am protected,
under your wings
There is peace,
under your wings
I find strength,
under your wings
I am hidden,
under your wings
There is comfort,
under your wings
I am safe,
under your wings
There is rest
under your wings.
